A great time was had by everybody yesterday at our autumn-themed Partnership Day at Bungay Primary School. We had time for lots of great activities like sewing felt leaves, making leave paintings, weaving colourful paper leaves and creating 'four seasons' trees with our fingers.

Have a look at some of our fantastic artwork...

Well done to everybody for super behaviour and hard work.

We concluded our work on 'Man on the moon: a day in the life of Bob' this week with a Big Write, retelling the story in our own words, remembering our capital letters and full stops and using interesting words to make our writing extra exciting. I am so impressed with how fantastic everybody's stories were - well done.

Freddie Knight was in the Golden Book this week for consistent effort and for having an ongoing positive attitude towards his learning. Well done Freddie!

Home Learning

Due WEDNESDAY 2nd NOVEMBER

Over the half term holiday, your home learning is to search for and collect signs of autumn, for example pinecones, fallen leaves (different shapes, sizes and colours), nuts and acorns. Think about the signs of autumn we have talked about in our Science lessons.
You should put them in a small resealable plastic bag or tub, but please make sure they can be easily carried into school and they are CLEAN and DRY (you might need to ask a grown up to help you check).
You should bring these in by WEDNESDAY 2nd November to be used for some autumn-themed artwork.

You also have spellings in your spelling book.
The first spelling challenge will be on Friday 4th November.

Have a lovely half term everybody - see you on 31st October!

Thank you to everyone that came along to our Harvest Festival and donated items of food for the church.
A huge WELL DONE to all the children for singing and reciting their poem so well. This was a fantastic end to a great week in Class 2!

We have been working hard in maths, learning how to use a 100-square to help us with our counting on and addition/subtraction skills.

Year 1 did fantastically well in their first try at a Big Maths challenge and are looking forward to getting started after half term. Look out for the 'prompt sheets' coming home next week.

We have been working on retelling stories this week using the story 'Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob)'. We drew our own 'story maps' to help us remember the events and order of the story.

We then thought about how to make our writing more interesting using adjectives (describing words) and making sure we wrote about what happened in the right order.

No Golden Book this week due to our Harvest assembly, but again - a huge well done to everyone!

Home Learning
Due Thursday 20th October

In Science we have been talking about the weather. We have started to think about the seasons and what changes are happening, now that we are in Autumn.
Draw a picture and write about what clothes you are wearing today.
Then have a look at some trees where you live. What do you notice? Draw a picture and write about what you see. Is anything changing yet?

Friday 7 October 2016

This week was 'World Space Week' so nearly all of our learning this week was linked to this in some way.

In Maths we thought about the names and properties of some 2D shapes and made space-themed pictures using some of these. I was so impressed with everyone's ideas!
We also made some symmetrical aliens. It was tricky making sure we decorated both sides in exactly the same way!

We have started our new class story - 'Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob)' by Simon Bartrum. We have thought about what we know about the characters that we read about and also what we might think about the ones we only see in pictures. We considered what they might be thinking, feeling or saying at different times in the story.

In our topic lesson we discovered the names of some stars in our solar system and then looked at some constellations - the 'pictures' made up of stars. We created our own special constellations too...

'The ballet-dancing banana' by Sophia
'The T-Rex' by Alfie G
'The Kite' and 'The House' by Francesca

Golden Book -
This week Iris was in our Golden Book for always making sure to listen to instructions and putting in such fantastic effort this week, especially with her writing.
WELL DONE IRIS!

Home Learning -

Due Thursday 13th October
This week we thought about what characters in our story ‘Man on the Moon’ were thinking, feeling and saying.

Look at the picture of Bob. He is travelling home after his day on the moon.
Write 3 sentences about what you think Bob might be thinking, feeling and saying.
