Thank you to everyone that came to our Harvest celebration on Friday and for all the produce donated - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

_ _ _ _ _ _

We have been continuing our work on number and place value this week, Year 2 have continued to think about how 2-digit numbers are made up (how many tens/ones) and how we can show this using different resources or what we can draw to help us show any number. Year 1 have been practising sequencing numbers (backwards and forwards!) and finding missing numbers on a number line.

We have been working hard on our phonics this week - Year 2 are trying hard to remember all of the alternate spellings we are learning!
Here are some super sentences using the 'air' sound spelt 'ear'....

Year 2 have been showing me how much they know in some quite tricky Maths and Reading challenges - well done to everyone for at least having a go and trying to keep a positive attitude even when they were finding things hard!

Year 1 have been doing lots of different thinking this week too - here we are listening carefully and following instructions to move and use our bodies in different ways...

Well done to all the children who have been working hard on their spelling words and who received a 'Super Speller' certificate this week - great work!

Please make sure you are reading your reading book at home to an adult at the weekends and as often as possible during the week too!

Friday 21 September 2018

Everyone is beginning to settle in nicely to Class 2 and we are getting used to our routines and new learning well and this week we have produced some super work as a result.

This week we have been continuing our work on number in maths and have been thinking about the different ways we can 'show' numbers.

In Year 1 we have been ordering numbers and making number lines in different ways using the resources and objects we have in the classroom.

We have also been practising writing our numbers the right way round and also learning the words for the numbers too!

Year 2 have been using 'chips and peas' (base 10 / Dienes) to show that 2 digit numbers are made up of tens and ones.

We have been continuing our work on 'Traction Man' acting out parts of the story, talking about what characters might be thinking and feeling and designing and describing new outfits for Traction Man!

Finally, Miss Neal will be joining our team in the next few weeks and will be working with us in Class 2 each day - the children have been very welcoming and got to know her a little already, so we look forward to her joining us full time soon!

Please make sure you try to read your reading book over the weekend to an adult and practise this weeks spellings.

Have lovely weekend!
