This week we have been making sure we always write 'SUPER SENTENCES' - with capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

The Elves have been leaving us lots of deliveries this week, each day we have had a new letter and story and sometimes they have left us other challenges as well.

One day we had all of the ingredients to make a marshmallow snowman - but no instructions! We had to look at the one they had given us and work out what we had to do.

Today they wrote to us with a HUGE problem - one of the Elves had eaten all of the Christmas cookies they had baked! They gave us the names of all the Elves that were close by at the time of the theft and 5 clues that would lead us to the answer. We had some great teamwork and problem solving, fantastic!

Well done to EVERYONE for two amazing performances of 'Wriggly Nativity' on Wednesday - we are very proud of all of you.

There is no home learning this week - have a restful weekend after our busy week in preparation for lots of festive activities next week!

Saturday 8 December 2018

This week has been extremely exciting in Class 2 - at the start of the week we found a mysterious door had appeared in the corner of our classroom with 'Under Construction' signs on it!

We thought for a long time about who might have built it there and why and thought it could be Elves - we wrote some letters to leave by the door asking lots of questions and kept a close eye on it all day.

The next day we found the letters had all gone and in return we had been left a letter and some presents and Christmas stories to enjoy!

Each day we have enjoyed coming in to see what the Elves have left us - lots more Christmas stories and a few challenges!
They sometimes leave some children gold chocolate coins if they see they have been trying their best and being kind and helpful too.

Here we are completing a treasure hunt - we had to work together to find out how much money was in each picture on the challenge sheet, then find the card with that amount on which was hidden somewhere around our classroom - this would give us a letter which spelled out a secret message once complete. The whole class showed great teamwork to complete this challenge, well done!

We are enjoying our Post Office where we can write letters to the Elves too.

We have been learning new ways of writing sounds we already know this week - Year 1 learned some new ways to write the long 'ee' sound....

...and Year 2 practised some more words with 'silent' or quiet letters in words with the 'l' sound at the end!

There is no extra home learning task this week - we have a busy week next week with Christmas performances and other end of term activities, so please have a relaxing weekend in preparation - please just make sure to practice your spelling words from this week and read your school reading book to a grown up, as usual!

Don't forget, our Christmas play performances start at 1pm and 5pm on Wednesday - we hope to see lots of you there!
