We started off the week with another fantastic visit to Rendlesham Forest - the weather was very kind to us and the children had a lovely day exploring all the forest had to offer, as well as enjoying the play equipment too!

Max came along too and enjoyed having a go on the swings and the zip-wire!

Higher! Higher!
Helping out...

Den building...
Two pairs of hands needed!

Building a campfire!

Enjoying a walk through the forest.
Working out the maze.

Look at me!

Looking out for each other - what a great friend!

A well-deserved break for lunch.

Back in the classroom e have written our own list poems this week, based on 'Ten Things in a Wizard's Pocket' by Ian McMillan - these were then beautifully written up and decorated by our authors and will be sent in as entries to the 'Suffolk Young Poets Competition' - see http://www.poetrypeople.co.uk/home/4592237524 for more details.

This week Year 1 have been learning about making words plural - this means more than one. Here is a video you could watch at home to help you remember when to add 's' or 'es'.

There is no Home Learning this week as next Thursday is the last day of term - but please make sure you read your reading books to an adult over the weekend!

Don't forget we will be opening up our classrooms on Monday and Tuesday between 3:15-3:45pm to give parents/carers a chance to look at what we have been up to this term.

Friday 7 July 2017

We began the week with our healthy eating share, led by Mike James. We learned lots about what we should be aiming to eat for breakfast - and how much we should be eating as a 'portion'! Thank you to all the parents that came along.

We followed this up on Tuesday by thinking about what a healthy lunch might look like. We had a tasting session of some different lunch foods and then sorted them into food groups (fruit, vegetables, proteins, carbs and snacks) to help us see how much of each type of food we should be eating.

Don't our finished versions of 'The Farm' look great?

We have been working hard on learning some tricky spelling patterns this week - here are Year 1 working out whether to use a 'c' or a 'k' ...

We have started to do some poetry this week and on Monday we had 10 rather odd objects given to us as clues and we had to work out whose pocket they came from!
First we had 'Ten things found in a Wizard's pocket' and then we had 'Ten things found in a Shipwrecked Sailors pocket'!

We are going to write our own 'Ten things....' poem so got into character to help us think about what might be in our pockets!

A huge well done to all the Reception children who came to visit us this morning for their Transition Morning - it was great to get to know you a little better and I am looking forward to September - I hope you are too!

James was in the Golden Book this week for a great 'can do' attitude in class this week and also being a great role-model for the Reception children today.

Home Learning this week is to complete the 'data' task - creating tally charts, pictograms and bar charts.
