Sunday 17 April 2016

We have had a busy week in Class 2, settling back in after the Easter Holiday!

In Maths we have been using a number line to help us add and subtract numbers and our English lessons have been focusing on  writing 'Super Sentences'. We have enjoyed creating and describing our own Superheroes!
In Science we have looked at 'Signs of Spring' and have enjoyed some lovely Spring weather too, spending lots of time outside.
Some very strange clues had been left around our classroom this week to make us think about our topic for this term - including a bushy yellow moustache!

We have launched Abacus Active Learn, and all children have now been given a log in, so that they can access ‘Pupil World’ and play maths games and earn rewards by completing activities that I will be allocating to them. Games and activities will be allocated fortnightly and will be part of your child's homework for that week.
Please feel free to come along after school on Thursday 21st April to our drop-in session if you have any questions or are experiencing difficulties with this.

A quick reminder that spellings are given each week alongside homework on a Friday, for our weekly challenge on a Thursday. Spelling is an important part of the curriculum and being able to spell common words will benefit your child and their reading and writing progress, so please do encourage them to learn these at home.

Next week....
We will be revisiting telling the time in Maths, in particular looking at the relationship between hours, minutes and seconds. We will be timing ourselves doing some challenges too!
In English we will be focusing on writing recounts for the next two weeks; developing our writing to include more interesting words and using longer sentences.
Lots more news to follow on the owner of that moustache...!
